As the gateway to Eastern Europe creaks ever wider, hordes of potential second home owners are putting Bulgaria at the top of their hit list. If you’re one of those looking to get a foot in the door whilst the cost of property remains obscenely low, act now and you could perhaps become the proud owner of this wonderful 2-bed country cottage. It’s only 30km away from the premier Black Sea resort of Bourgas and is currently on the market for a phenomenally cheap €8,000 (£5,450). The property not only comes handsomely set amongst 2400sqm of gardens, it also enjoys the kind of mountain views usually only reserved for picture postcards. As featured in HPA.

Varna, on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast has become one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations. With its delightful summer climate, miles of pristine golden beaches and delicious food washed down with some obscenely cheap but excellent wine, it’s not hard to see why. Believe it or not, here you can buy a generously proportioned 2-bed villa with enormous garden, be on the beach in 2 minutes and still have change from £30,000 (€44,000). I bet you’re wondering why you didn’t dive in earlier to make those dreary seaside holidays in dear old Blighty a thing of the past. As featured in HPA.

If it’s sun, sea, sand and spondoolicks you’re after, then our advice is to hitch a ride on the Bulgarian Black Sea property boom. 2-bedders in this attractive apartment block in Nessebar are being snapped up, but there’s no surprise there when you scan the particulars. Each apartment is fully furnished, the local amenities are first class, there’s a beach practically on your doorstep and a selling price of only €49,440 (£33,400). Bulgaria really does tick all the boxes and when it does finally become a fully paid up member of the EU, prices like this are going to be no more than a distant memory. As featured in HPA.

It’s not just the climate that’s sizzling in the Black Sea resort of Bourgas, property prices are also hoting up. However, bargains still abound and the opportunity to dive into the boom shouldn’t be missed. Investments don’t come more versatile than this portfolio busting 5-bed villa, perfectly located just outside the resort and available at only €66,000 (£44,500). There’s more than enough space to welcome family and friends and, should you be able to tear yourself away, the visiting hordes will pay big bucks for 2-weeks in this delightful des res. As featured in HPA.

Not even the outside loo is going to deter me in this recommendation. For a scandalous €10,000 (£6,600), a price that would quite happily sit on the gold card, I’d buy this bijou, bargain dwelling regardless of its location, but the fact that it resides in Bulgaria’s popular Varna district just goes to double its appeal. For the money, you get a 2-bed bungalow, surrounded by a huge garden with mature fruit trees and its own vineyard. Perfect for that peaceful vacation retreat. As featured in HPA.

OK so it needs a little work, but with an asking price of only €8,000 (£5,000) what more could you expect. This character 3-bedder is in very good structural condition and just oozes Bulgarian rustic charm. Both electricity and running water are connected and once a bathroom has been put in and the refurb completed this would make an ideal summer retreat. A small vineyard and orchard add to the rural appeal but, should you hanker after a little excitement the ancient city and former capital of Bulgaria, Veliko Turnovo, is only short bus ride away. As featured in HPA.

We all know Bulgaria is cheap, but a brand new 1-bed apartment in one of the country’s top ski resorts for only £13,500 is just ridiculous. However, ours is not to reason why, or how, we should just delight in the fact that these incredible opportunities are made available to us. The new River Lodge apartment building is situated in a quiet location but still within a 4-minute stroll of the centre of the town of Bansko, and only 5 minutes from the newly opened gondola station which takes skiers to the pistes high in the mountains. This is ideal rental material and if there isn’t substantial capital growth in this deal then I’ll eat my hat. As featured in HPA.

Everyone knows that property in Bulgaria is cheap, but a house and garden for only £6,062 (all fees and purchase costs included) is, quite simply, irresistible. This small cosy 2-bed house is located in one of the most attractive areas along Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea Coast. The village is surrounded by gorgeous hills and is set in the heart of a nature reserve that offers a mild Mediterranean climate and the perfect opportunity to explore the glorious countryside. For the sun worshippers and beach lovers, it’s also close to the premier seaside resort of Bourgas. As featured in HPA.

The builders may have downed tools before this villa, which is situated near the slopes of the international ski resort of Borovets, was completed, but that is reflected in its astounding €28,000 (£18,650) asking price. There’s space for 7 weary skiers to wine, dine and enjoy the views from the terrace and, once the windows are glazed, they can also partake of a cosy evening around the fire. As featured in HPA.

Bansko is set to become one of Bulgaria’s most prestigious ski resorts as millions of pounds worth of investment are poured into the area. That said, getting a foot on the property ladder, as well as on the piste, could prove to be a very clever move. Fortunately properties are still amazingly good value and a smart 1-bedder, such as this, can still be had for as little as €23,900 (£16,500). It’s conveniently placed for the slopes; there’s a shared garden with off-road parking and it’s a stone’s throw from the amenities of the town. If I were you, I’d pack the salopettes and get on the blower to the agent sharpish. As featured in HPA.
